Living our Spiritual Truths

Many of us have grown up practicing a certain religion or adopting the spiritual beliefs associated with our immediate families. While it is extremely important for some to maintain these traditional bonds for a lifetime, others abandon them as they mature, exploring other possibilities for their existence and purpose in the world. They are thepeople who were born to wonder and wander so to speak. It is a calling to find that spiritual truth which resonates inside their soul. To feel energy, spark and light which brings comfort, hope, joy and inspiration! It is a quest to find that which transcends them to new understanding and appreciation of life.
In this era of rapid change and unrest all over the Earth, people are feeling more responsibility for just this type of self-evolution. The anxiety and fear becomes overwhelming and everyone you meet seems to be looking for answers. Our collective energies have been calling out to each of us to “wake up” our sleeping awareness of other solutions to the atrocities we see happening around us. There are metaphysical answers and spiritual solutions; it is becoming more obvious to the masses that help is really possible.
All these growing pains; political upheavals, military conflicts and protests are bringing about change and progress. Our common will to overcome these conflicts and differences is stronger than any negative force created by destructive thoughts. If your religion makes you afraid, angry, fearful, judgmental and/or wishing harm on others, you will start to question its very origin and purpose. If the purpose is not your own, then you are practicing someone else’s version of the truth. There is honesty and beauty inside all our beliefs and taking those which heal, leaving behind those that destroy is a goal we are all striving here to reach. We are learning to blend and compromise. The light that is inside every one of us can heal anything you can possibly imagine when you are living your spiritual truth! If our beliefs can lead us to war, then they can surely bring us all to peace!

Don’t be afraid to quest for your truth. If you feel you are still searching, then investigate what makes your heart sing. What is your “religion”? What kind of world spirituality do you envision to heal the Earth and the souls who inhabit her? Maybe we should all pray for all the souls on Earth to unite in our astral travels. We could request that the peace we created through the love we manifest out in the spiritual consciousness would carry through to the Earthly realities we are living. So whatever it is that sets your heart and soul on fire with joy, shine it! Wear it out and embrace it. Question those things which make no sense to your sensibility and feed those things which speak to you in synchronicity. They keep you grounded and calm, ready to ascend and evolve. Your spiritual truth will set you free to live in a higher frequency with an inner knowing and guidance only you can identify.

3 Myths Of Chakra Healing You Should Know

Dr Raven Dolick M.s.D.
Apr 9, 2015
All rights reserved
If you visit an upscale day spa, you might notice a "chakra balancing" treatment on the list of services. You may not be sure what your chakras were, or if they needed balancing, but it's definitely intriguing!
Reiki masters know how to work chakras with an astoundingly simple healing technique that is nothing short of miraculous.
But is that day spa worker actually a great Master?
Maybe you have even had your chakras dowsed with a pendulum. Watching a crystal spin above your heart area is quite interesting, and it's not just a party trick.
I have hands-on experience with sensing chakras and helping my clients understand them. Allow me to give you a little insight before you slap down the cash for a treatment that you don't really know if you need.
Your chakra system consists of seven main energy centers, and actually there are many more, that reside along the spinal column. Although they are less dense in nature than tissue or bone, they are one of the major ways that your body receives energy from the Universal Energy Field and assimilates it for your use.
The energy centers govern many aspects of your physiology, including organ systems and psychological tendencies, and reflect the well-being of the individual. Each has a frequency, a color and a sound, moving in a clockwise direction.
I know it's weird to try to understand the nonphysical parts of you, so think of each chakra like a vortex or funnel, which is a few inches wide at the top, and the motion of this vortex pulls energy down the funnel and into the body.
There is a front and rear aspect for each chakra, and they extend into your energy field a few inches above the body on certain points along the spinal column.
Myth #1 - Chakras are supposed to be balanced and perfect.
Many of the diagrams in books or online show the seven major chakras as they would be in an ideal world - in other words, perfect. They are all a similar shape, size and spin effortlessly with a colorful glow specific to each chakra.
We live in the real world and hopefully understand that nothing is actually perfect. The real world is quite messy, unpredictable and above all else, constantly changing. This is also how your chakras behave. They are flexible and responsive, adjusting to psychological and physical factors, which affect us every day.
Your chakras have a baseline that is generally unique to you and reflects your current emotional and physical patterns, but this baseline can change over time as you grow and change.
Insisting that your chakras always be "perfect" is not productive in the real world. It's important to honor where you are in your process and to encourage opening and stability, no matter how you measure up to a diagram or picture in a book. You are not a picture.
When you are on a healing table and a practitioner balances your chakras, he or she is imposing a mental ideal on your very real physiology.
They may not be respecting where you are in your process and might force your chakras to be more open than they are naturally capable of in that particular moment.
After the treatment, your chakra system probably won't be able to integrate and actually hold the work that they tried to impose on you. Consequently, your chakras will go back to where they were before the treatment and may be a little wonky for a bit.
Myth #2 - Balancing my chakras will improve my health.
It might be easy to think that if my chakra system affects my organs, then I will be healthier if my chakras are perfect.
Unfortunately, it's not that easy. The chakras are actually evidence of where you are physically, emotionally and psychologically, and it is only by working on those issues that your chakras will shift and change.
Believe me, if there were a magic switch that could make you perfect, I'd turn it on for you, but true healing generally requires a shift in consciousness. Yeah, I said it. You have to be intimately involved in your own healing process to reap the rewards. No one can do it for you.
When you experience illness, it is your body calling out for you to pay attention. Honor it. Listen to it. The answers you need for your healing will come through your consciousness, not just your chakras. Get to know yourself, and you'll move through your own health issues, rather than giving that job to someone else.
Myth #3 - I have no power over my chakras.
Most people think that they have no real authority over their physiology. We are constantly turning to experts to tell us what is wrong with us and how to fix it.
While there is much that a healer can do to help you understand where you are and to help you along the way, it is up to you to change the beliefs that are negatively affecting you.
There are lots of simple exercises, similar to many common yoga postures, which have been used for centuries to shift the psychological or physiological health of an area governed by a chakra.
Sometimes all it takes to shift a negative or unhealthy pattern is just giving it some positive attention and a concerted effort to move toward something healthier.
For instance, if you are experiencing a sluggish second chakra and not feeling that romantic spark toward your partner, having that chakra balanced will have some effect on your love life, but not as much as if you begin practicing something like belly dancing. Get that area moving for yourself and your chakras will respond in kind.
Another person can't change your life for you, especially if you have invested behaviors and beliefs in a particular issue for many years.
Actively working with your issues, however, will be positively reflected in your entire chakra system, and you will feel better on many levels.

Faeries and Love

The lore of the faery realm has, like the world of humans, traditionally focused on love—both tales of faery lovers and of fey beings who have fallen in love with mortals and sometimes tried to keep them forever in their faery kingdoms. These stories, whether perceived as pure lore or used as a way of explaining past mortal occurrences, tell the tales of true love, of faery temptresses, of lover's quarrels, and more.
Perhaps the most tragic fey love story is that of the Celtic Cliodna of the Golden Hair. The daughter of Manannan mac Lir, who ruled over the sea, Cliodna was reputed to be the most beautiful woman in the world in mortal form. She loved the young mortal Ciabhan so much she left faeryland to live with him. However, while Ciabhan was hunting, Cliodna's father sent a faery minstrel to enchant her; she was carried back to fairyland in a magical sleep. She is still seen on seashores, either as a huge wave or a seabird, seeking her lost love; she is said to help parted mortal lovers to be reunited.
Below are two methods of invoking Cliodna if you are longing to be reunited with a parted love.
Name your lost love as you hold matching shells, found on the shore or by a lake, tied together with seaweed or dried grasses. Cast your shells on the ninth wave as it moves into shore. Call your lost love's name nine times.
If you are landlocked, improvise with matching aquamarine crystals cast into any body of flowing water. Count nine before throwing the crystals into the water together. Call your lost love's name nine times.
Faery Marriages
Some tales of faery brides who married mortals seem to have earthly verification.
The Gwragedd Annwn are beautiful, Welsh, fair-haired faery women, the same size as humans, living in underwater palaces in lakes close to the Black Mountains. These lake maidens have, on occasion—according to folk lore of the area—taken human husbands, though they rarely stayed with them. Some local families still claim fey heritage.
One Lady of the Lake in Llyn y Fan Fach is, however, said to actually be the fairy ancestor of an unbroken line of Welsh healers and physicians. Even more unusual, this faery legend can be dated. Around 1230, records tell that a young farmer saw three beautiful women dancing on the shore. The most beautiful agreed to be his wife and her father, the king of the lake faeries, came from under the lake to bestow a dowry of fairy cattle. However, the faery king imposed a number of conditions on his daughter staying with her mortal husband. One condition was that she should never be touched with iron, another that she should not be made to go to church and a third that if her husband struck her three times her and her dowry would return to the lake.
The couple had three sons, but the farmer broke his bargain by striking his faery wife three times (though according to less enlightened male folk tellers, the poor husband only tapped the faery lightly and for good reason). A faery bargain being a faery bargain, off went the cattle and faery maiden, though she did return to teach her sons knowledge of herbs and healing. They became the Physicians of Myddfai, healers to the Welsh kings. When they died, they left a medical treatise, copies of which exist today. I believe there is one in Cardiff Castle Museum.
Brides in Faeryland
Mortal women who married to or were abducted by faeries seem to have had an even less than happy fate.
A woman on her wedding day or night was, according to Celtic myth, considered a great prize by the faeries as she was still a virgin but at peak fertility. For this reason, until medieval times, a woman would be accompanied to the church by identically dressed bridesmaids, so that watching faeries could not identify the true bride.
Some of these faery abductions may have had a less ethereal explanation. In parts of Europe during the Middle Ages, the local lord of the manor was unofficially allowed the use of his serfs' brides on their wedding night. Rape by wealthy landowners and their sons was a real threat for country women even in Victorian times, especially among servants in big houses. It could be that the story of a traditional return of the abducted bride from the faeries after a year and a day bearing a babe several months old was an acceptable way for a peasant husband not to appear cuckolded by the squire, if the unfortunate bride became pregnant during this abduction. A despoiled bride might have been placed in a distant workhouse during the pregnancy, with the collusion of the husband or a father in the case of an unmarried girl.
A typical bride abduction story made into a ballad was of Colin, a Scot, whose wife was taken by the faeries. His wife, it was said, returned invisibly each day to milk to cows and do the chores; only her singing could be heard. In other versions she returns after a year and a day with a baby. Was Colin keeping his bride locked away because he discovered on the wedding night she was pregnant by someone else, albeit by rape? Or was she truly a bride of the faeries?
Some faery abductions had more serious consequences. A wife who consistently produced sickly boys who did not survive or female offspring for a man who desperately needed an heir, might suddenly disappear; the official and often unquestioned explanation of her disappearance was that she was spirited away forever by the faeries. There are still parts of the world where the value of a woman except as a bearer of sons is low; this is a reminder that it has not that long been otherwise in Westernized society also.
Bridget Cleary
Records from centuries past are obviously sparse, and faery abduction as an excuse for wife murder or beating may sound to be pure speculation. That said, we do know that in Tipperary in Ireland as recently as 1895 Bridget Cleary was tortured and burned to death by her husband Michael. He claimed that his wife had been stolen by the faeries and a changeling substituted. Michael insisted that by destroying the enchanted form of his wife, the true Bridget herself would return on a white horse at midnight. Seven of her neighbors and relatives, including Bridget's father and aunt, were involved and later convicted of the crime. A hundred years later, Angela Bourke, a professor at University College, Dublin and author of The Burning of Bridget Cleary, stated that the case demonstrated the clash between two different world views, two ways of dealing with troublesome people, two ways of accounting for the irrational, at a time of profound social, economic, and cultural change.
Bridget Cleary's crime was that she was economically and socially independent by her own efforts, rather than by birth. Presumably, had the case gone unpunished, her death would have been very profitable for her husband and family, who would have inherited her money.
Fairy Queen Temptresses
As the goddesses were downgraded into faeries, some acquired the role of temptresses and abductors of innocent males. In Scotland, myths tell of the Bean chaol a chot uaine's na gruaige buidhe, "The slender woman with green kirtle and yellow hair"—a fairy queen who had the ability to turn water into red wine and spin the threads of the spiders into tartan. The fairy temptress would, by playing her magical reed pipe, lure young men into her faery hill. Unless they left a piece of iron over the lintel of the entrance, they would be forced to dance and serve the pleasure of the faery queen until she tired of them and sent them home. It is said these young men would find that though it only seemed one night had passed in faeryland, decades might have gone by in the mortal world and the fresh-faced milkmaid sweetheart to whom he had sworn his eternal fidelity was now an aging grandmother.
The most famous young male abductee who seems to have actually gained from his visit to faeryland was Thomas the Rhymer, whose ballad is still performed in folk clubs with Celtic connections. The true Thomas was Thomas of Earlston (Erceldoune), a thirteenth century poet who claimed to have met the Queen of Elfland under a magical elder tree. In return for a kiss he tells how he was forced to go to faeryland with her, though other versions suggest Thomas was more than willing to be seduced. In a few accounts the Queen becomes an ugly hag and the ritual mating of youth with the ancient crone goddess occurred to maintain the cycle of the seasons and ensure the fertility of the land. Thomas remained in faeryland for seven years, though they were only three days in fairy time. He was rewarded with the gifts of poetry, prophecy, and a magical harp.
It has been argued in recent years that Thomas was in fact initiated into a local witch cult and that his visions of faeryland were shamanic.
An Escape from the Faeries
Not all captives were as willing as Thomas, nor the faery queen as willing to part with her mortal lover. One of the most famous tales, recorded by the Scottish poet Robert Burns as well as several other poets, is that of Tam Lin, a Scottish knight who fell from his horse and was captured by the Queen of the Faeries. She bound him with magic and posted him to guard one of the entrances to the world of humans at the well of Carteraugh, close to the borders of Scotland.
Young maidens were warned not to drink at the well, for every time they did and picked one of the roses that overhung it, Tam Lin would appear and demand that either the girl gave him a green mantle or offered up her virginity.
One bold young woman, Janet, decided to see whether the myth was true, and plucked a rose from the well. She and Tam Lin fell in love, and he wanted to escape from the Faery Kingdom to wed Janet.
The next night was Halloween, and Tam Lin explained that there was an opportunity that only occurred every seven years for him to escape. The Faery Ride would take place, when then the faeries moved to their winter quarters (in some versions seen as hell). The faery troop had to ride on horseback along the road. Tam Lin told Janet to wait for him at the crossroads at midnight and to hold on to him, whatever form he took.
As Tam Lin rode by in the faery procession, Janet pulled him from his horse and held tight. Just as he had warned Janet, the Faery Queen turned Tam Lin first into a newt, then a snake, a tiger, a bear, and finally into red hot metal. Janet held fast, and as he became molten metal, she plunged him into the magical well.
The spell was broken. Tam Lin emerged from the water in human form, and he and Janet were soon married.
Faery Marital Quarrels
Faery marriages were frequently as turbulent as earthly ones.
Titania is most famous in literature as the wife of Oberon, King of the faeries, in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In this play she is depicted as petulant, willing to let the seasons go to rack and ruin while she pursues her vendetta against Oberon, who retaliated by making her fall in love with a peasant with a donkey's head.
Titania was, before she was Christianized and downgraded (like many Pagan goddesses) to faery status, known as Themis the Ancient Greek Titan Goddess of Justice and Order, and the mother of the Fates and the Seasons.
Finvarra or Fin Bheara, who ruled the faeries of the west Of Ireland, was the apparently devoted husband of Queen Oonagh. Oonagh has been described in true Victorian style by Lady Wilde, who collected accounts of faery folk lore in Ireland, as having golden hair sweeping to the ground, clad in silver gossamer glittering as if with diamonds, which were actually dew drops.
In spite of his wife's ethereal beauty, Finvarra was obsessed with mortal women who, overpowered by the music of faeryland, were spirited away to live there with him forever. He was also said to have a second Queen, Nuala. Oonagh was unsurprisingly not welcoming to mortal maidens to the fairy court.
Other maidens seduced by Finvarra's music danced all night with him and in the morning, found themselves on a faery hill, possessing knowledge of love potions and of magic—and sometimes a faery pregnancy.
A Fairy Love Wishes Spell
Find a faery tree: a hawthorn, elder, ash, willow, or oak, or in the southern hemisphere, a eucalyptus, tea tree, golden wattle, or the bushy manuka.
Sit beneath or close to its branches on a bright moonlit night during the week of the full moon.
Best of all is the night of the full moon. Look upwards at the moon and feel the positive energies of the cosmos and the moon mother, associated with faithful love and fertility, flowing into you.
Watch the moonlight filter through the leaves and make patterns, and you may be aware of living, moving energies within the branches and leaves.
Touch the trunk of the tree with your hands, and let the life force of the tree spirit flow into you, so that you can feel the pulsating energies of its essence like mild electricity.
Standing and still touching the tree, press your feet down towards the roots, allowing the Earth mother to offer you her fertility and the power so you will find or live with the right mate forever.
Now extend your arms upwards, and draw inwards strength and healing from the moon-dappled leaves.
Move away from the tree and, keeping the moon in view, spiral the tree nine times clockwise (widdershins) in ever decreasing circles, letting your feet guide you. The nine circles of power are an ancient magical device, and if you now stand within the innermost ring, reaching out with just your fingertips to the trunk, you may momentarily make contact with the spirit of the tree.
Ask the essence within the tree, the earth, and the moon mother to bless your love or to bring to you the person who will make you happy. You can also ask for fertility if you are trying to conceive a child.
Spend a little longer watching the moonlight filter through the leaves and amplifying the tree energies.
Bury a silver earring or nine silver-colored coins, the metal of the moon mother, beneath the roots as a token of thanks; whisper your love's name or call out on the air the one who will make you happy to find you.

LOVE IS ALL!
So many talk to me about Love which seems to be the most elusive thing in the world.

I have been asked, how do I know that it is real? My answers vary accordingly but the first things I like to say is "You Are Love" can you feel that?
Most reply "no" which I feel very sad when we are born "Love", where does it go if so many is seeking yet it is right there inside of us?
Even if our soul has chosen to come into a non loving family for whatever reason, maybe to help teach our parents or to delve deep within to find the answer it is always within our reach if only we can believe that. BELIEF is the answer, change any belief we have and we can change our whole outlook.

The whole Spectrum of Love
When you find someone you can say the following to you will have found your True Love to share the love within.
"I Love You" There is much greater motivation than simply my spoken words. For me to love is to commit myself, freely and without reservation. I am sincerely interested in your welfare, your happiness and well being. Whatever your needs are, I will try to fulfill them and will bend in my values depending on the importance of your need.
If you are lonely and need me, I will be there. If in those times of loneliness, you need to talk, I will listen.
If you need to listen, I will talk. If you need the strength of human touch, I will touch you. If you need to be held, I will hold you. If I am bonded to you I will be naked in body with you if that is what you need. And if I am bonded to you and if you need fulfillment of the flesh, I will give you that also, but only through my love. I will try to be constant with you so that you will understand the core of my personality, and from that understanding you can gain strength and security that I am acting as me. I may falter with my moods. I may project, at times, a strangeness that is alien to you, which may bewilder or frighten you.
There will be times when you question my motives. But, because people are never constant and are as changeable as the seasons. I will try to build up within you a faith in my own fundamental attitude and show that my consistency is only for the moment and not a lasting part of me. I will show you love now. Each and every day, for each day is a lifetime.
Every day we love, we learn how to love more.
I will not defer my love, nor neglect it, for if I wait until tomorrow, tomorrow may never come. It is like a cloud in the sky, passing by. They always do, you know!
If I give you kindness and understanding, then I will receive your faith.
If i give hate and dishonesty, I will receive your distrust.
If I give you fear and am afraid, you will become afraid and fear me. I will give to you what I need to receive. To what degree the love I give is determined by my own capability. My capability is determined by my understanding of love, truth and trust from the Supreme, My understanding is determined by my parents, friends, places I have lived and been. All experiences that have been fed into my being from living this human life.
I will give you as much love as I can.
If you will show me how to give more, then I will give more.
I can only give as much as you need to receive or allow me to give.
If you receive all I can give, then my love is endless and fulfilled. If you receive a portion of my love then I will give others the balance that i am capable of giving. I must give all that I have, being what I am. For Love is Universal.
Love is the movement of life. I have loved a boy, a girl, my parents, my children, others grandchildren, and their friends, art, and nature in all forms. All things in life are beautiful. No Human being or society has the right to condemn any kind of love I feel, or my way of expressing it, if I am sincere, sincerity being the honest realization of myself and there is no hurt or pain intentionally involved in my life or any life my life touches. I want to become a truly loving spirit. Let my words, if I must speak, become a restoration of your soul. But when speech is silent, does one project the greatest depth of sensitivity. When I touch you, kiss you, or hold you, I am saying a thousand words.

Is There True Love?
Who doesn't want to be with their true love?
Questions about this romantic yearning eclipse nearly all others that I hear through my intuition and energy healing practice. The full ranges of related questions are all over the board, to include versions of the following:
Why do I keep marrying the same basic person over and over?
Why can't I meet anyone?
What do I do about my bad marriage? Is there any way to fix it?
My soul mate left me, shattered and bruised. I thought they weren't supposed to do this?
I'm dating my soul mate but I'm bored. What am I doing wrong?
Am I way too old/flawed/unattractive/attractive/dysfunctional/trendy/old-fashioned to meet my Eternal One?
There are all sorts of related questions but they are all posing the same deep query: Is there true love?
And as I look into my life companions eyes my short answer is, "yes."
One of the significant keys to attracting true love or transforming a current relationship into its highest expression is to figure out the difference between soul and true mate relationships. Plain and simple, you want a true mate relationship rather than the garden-variety soul mate relationship most people talk about.
What's the difference between a soul and a true mate relationship? Baseline, soul relationships are soul-to-soul, or karmic, and true relationships are true self to true self, or dharmic. Karma involves clearing the past, and dharma, creating a brilliant future. Your true self is the spiritual or essential you, the one who knows itself to be completely and unconditionally connected to Source. With this knowledge uppermost, your true self is able to give and receive love generously, bringing the Divine into the picture for advice, healing, and guidance. Relationships with others who are living as their true selves are dharmic or continually evolving toward positivity and joy.
Your soul is the part of you that travels across time in order to learn about love. Its journey includes this life, but also many past lives. Its schooling has greatly increased its ability to formulate loving attachments but also caused injury. These wounds are the areas that cause us to compromise in relationships, feel unworthy of love, and act accordingly.
Soul relationships form between any beings whose souls can assist each other in clearing wounds and creating more loving bonds. Just about everyone in your life is probably a soul mate, from your mom to your companion animal. Don't most of your relationships involve teachings about love? Don't they assist you in healing your inner wounds? Relationships that help us fix the past are called karmic.
In our search for a romantic "soul mate," most of us, without knowing it, are really looking for a true love relationship. We want to help each other discover and follow the path of destiny, sharing activities that fulfill our individual life missions. These relationships tend to be much more exuberant and kind than many soul relationships.
One fun secret is that you can have many true mates. These are simply people or animals with whom you get to express your true self and they do the same with you. What if you're stuck in a few negative soul relationships? Well, all is not lost. By transforming yourself, by showing your authentic self, you invite reciprocity from another. That muddy soul mate lover could turn into a Prince (or Princess) after you first leapfrog ahead. If they don't, you have further decisions to make.
What if you think you already met your true love and it didn't work out? What if your true love died or is unavailable? You can have more than one true love. What's important is to become your true self and partner with someone whose true self fits you. If you're single, the most significant key to attracting a true love is to uncover and express the spiritual qualities that signify your true self.
This advice departs from most of the soul mate outlines, which encourage a list that includes necessary body type, income range, and even number of kids. All that's great, but you know what? You can attract someone with the right hair color but who has everything else wrong. You and your true love will share what is really important, like faith, truth, hope, generosity, healthiness, and whichever other spiritual qualities are vital to your true self.
Go ahead and start attracting true love by getting in touch with the spiritual qualities that are really important to you and then live them. Nourish, feel, speak to, breathe, and live them. Notice how your friendships shift. See how your relatives respond. And then compare the new people you attract in your life by doing this versus doing things the old way. True love can be as close as a star already fallen to earth.

Aphrodisiacs by Zodiac Sign

Effective edibles to spice up your sex life
Ahhhh -- is there anything better than sex? There isn't much we wouldn't do in order to bed down the lover of our dreams. We lie, we cheat, we wear hairpieces and shoot up Botox ... anything and everything we need to attract the lovers we desire. And in this day and age of social networking and match-up web sites, competition is stiffer than ever.
So whether you're trying to heat things up with a new lover or you want to spend more time between the sheets with your long-term flame, how can you create the right atmosphere for mating? Turn your next meal for two into an opportunity to experience the effectiveness of sexually stimulating aphrodisiacs you can find on the shelves of your local food store.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Although Aries' fast and furious manner can be sexy, brevity can lead to bedroom frustrations. It's really important for Aries to slow down the process and avoid reaching an early climax. Similarly, the "sheep-woman" might have come and "gone" before her partner even gets warmed up. Fortunately, Aries will do anything on a dare, especially if it involves chowing down on hot pepper. Cayenne could be nature's way of dilating Aries' blood vessels long enough to keep the passion going a little longer. In much the same way, honey can be applied to Aries' palette to soothe symptoms of sterility and banish impotence.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Noble Taurus is sensuous and caring, but because it's hard to get this person moving, sex comes about more slowly than most partners might like. To get Taurus to budge past the point of staring longingly into your eyes, pull out something that plays on the Bull's strength and penchant for sexual symbolism. Sprinkle nutmeg, the spice of strength and love magic, on to a portion of carrots or mashed sweet potatoes, and watch trace amounts of MDMA turn Taurus into an unstoppable passion machine. Or, serve up some creamy, smooth avocado. This uniquely seeded fruit hangs in pairs as it grows on the vine, and is a rich visual reminder of Taurus' potential virility and sexuality.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Distractible Gemini might not be thinking about sex at all times, and this sign's inherent duality can often lead to indecisive behavior. Your Gemini partner can appear to turn on and off at the drop of a hat -- or a click of the TV remote. Use cardamom to even things out. This aromatic spice cools down the hot and warms up the cold, confusing the hell out of Gemini, but definitely bringing attention to getting down to the business of sex. If the exotic curry doesn't go down too well, try popping a vanilla bean into Gemini's coffee or champagne -- the scent of lust could incite this elusive lover to develop a hornier, healthier one-track mind.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
The mother of all signs can be the kind of person that really believes sex is just for creating children, or so it might seem. It isn't easy to ply Cancers with food, as it's hard to get them to give up control over the kitchen. Don't worry, there are many routes into this gastronome's heart, and at least one of them begins in Cancer's sweet tooth. Remembering that this sentimental soul has a soft spot for all things that evoke childhood days, take a trip to your local penny candy dealer. Black licorice will wake up Cancer's sexuality by acting on the adrenals and bringing those hormone levels up to a point that will turn on Cancer's trance-like dance of orgasmic passion.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Most people want to know what will turn Leo off, but if you're in a long-term relationship with this proud individual, there will be times when you'll need to bring back that old spark. Attracted to all things that remind them of the brilliant Sun that rules their sign, Leo people will become sexually aroused when fed yellow foods. Saffron, that flowery flavor found in Spanish paella and Italian risotto, can improve the feminine sex drive. Bananas, meanwhile, will bring most Leo men's members to attention, and remind them of the importance of performing up to the standards of virility that the Leo legend is based upon.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Shy and retiring Virgo people can be pretty sexy, but not before they go through rituals that might make you think they're breaking a monk's or nun's vow. Surprisingly well-versed in technique and proficient in positions from missionary to the dirty Sanchez, Virgo can come alive rather quickly -- and often challenge partners to keep up with a vast store of sexual knowledge. Are you ready to be schooled? Feed your Virgo chocolate. One of the most obvious of the aphrodisiacs, cocoa lowers inhibitions and increases Virgo's desire to touch and be touched. Even if you fail to make that first orgasm completely perfect, Virgo will always encourage you to keep practicing.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans are all about the romance, and most will already bring along sexy lingerie, candlelight and flowers, whether real or virtual, to every date. Yet, this sign's indecisive nature can interfere with the business of getting to the good stuff of rubbing up against you. Libra often will need to be "warmed up" and enticed to stray from all else that looks beautiful, sounds harmonious or smells nice. Start by feeding your little darling garlic, which is definitely something that's better when shared together. When paired with ginger, this domineering aromatic flavor will break down Libra's aesthetically correct barriers and activate this sign's more libidinous impulses.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
That jazzy, rhythmic "come to me baby" music that instantly inspires the old bump 'n' grind is totally Scorpio's theme song. Most don't need much more than a glance in their direction as a cue to start acting out the sexual scenarios that run through their heads. In the rare event you come across a less pornographically-inclined Scorpio, it won't take much to change things. Wake up the bottom half of the body by introducing truffles or Portobello mushrooms to the top half. Scorpio is likely to drop eating utensils mid-meal, throw you on the table and demonstrate transformative acts of sex usually reserved for verboten corners of the World Wide Web.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
This not-so-subtle individual can be totally clueless when it comes to getting the hint, so don't be stingy whilst exercising the art of culinary sexual suggestion. A tray of oysters, arranged in a circle that's seemingly pleading to be penetrated, will get most Sagittarius men aroused enough to prove they don't need aphrodisiacs for anything. In the case of the female Centaur, her adventurous nature will easily extend to matters of sexuality, but you have to get her to stop talking about her latest trip to Trinidad and Tobago first. Ample servings of asparagus spears, pointedly suggesting your desire to open up the appropriate orifices, should do the trick.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
To this closeted-but-raunchy person, the mere suggestion that aphrodisiacs would be needed to initiate the sex act is laughable. If you want to impress the irrepressible Goat, you've got to be resourceful. Don't even try hiding your intention to lubricate the libido with food. Creating a challenge will get Capricorn's respect and cooperation much more quickly. This is the person for whom dancing with death equates with sexual arousal, because both things ask Capricorn to merge the need for individual achievement into the infinite sense of belonging. Rather than messing with marjoram or hot mustard, dare Capricorn to prove imperviousness and ingest the non-poisonous parts of the infamous Japanese puffer fish.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Every Aquarius lives in his or her head, where the world of love and sex is merely an arena for conquests by the "cool." It's never easy to get Aquarians to do what you want them to do -- it takes a lot to even get them close enough for a wet and sloppy kiss. Here's where some sexy foods can help you out. Cook with ginseng to increase the desire for physical contact of the up close and personal kind. Or, ply the Aquarian female with almond-flavored treats that are famous for softening the feminine resistance to sexual intrusion and raising carnal desire to a level beyond what you might call "Cold Fish."
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
This is the sign that will instantly fall under the spell of most mind-altering substances, so it isn't too tough to get them swimming in more intimate directions. Alcohol, the never-fail elixir when it comes to lowering human inhibitions, is the easiest way to get Pisces to remember how good it can feel to live in the body long enough to have sex. A little liquid courage can also increase confidence, so Pisces won't be worrying about whether he or she is "good enough" to mate with you at any given time. Once the juices start to flow, you'll certainly thank the genius who first fermented the fruit of the vine.

Why is Sex Sacred?

The essential unity of sex and spirit seems so obvious to me that I almost forget the rest of the world doesn’t necessarily see it that way. The Sufi teacher Hazrat Inayat Khan said, "Love is the sign of Spirit," and in my mind this always included erotic love.
Why is sex sacred? The dictionary defines sacred as "made or declared holy, dedicated or devoted exclusively to a use, purpose, or person worthy of reverence or respect." The word itself comes from the Latin, sacra meaning "sacred, holy, consecrated," that is, blessed or revered. The noun (singular) is sacrum, meaning a holy thing or place.
While patriarchal religions have defined sacred and spiritual as being separate from the body, from nature, and certainly from sex, the ancient roots of our language imply a different understanding. It is no coincidence that the word sacrum is also the anatomical term for the triangular bone at the base of the spine, the very place which Tantra tells us is the seat of the sleeping kundalini or Shakti energy. When aroused through Tantric practice, the kundalini rises up the spine to awaken the spiritual centers in the brain.
So our language suggests that once upon a time, Western Civilization understood the sacred nature of sex. This wisdom was lost during the Inquisition, in fact, one might say that this was the purpose of the Inquisition: To create a cultural shift from sex as sacred to sex as sinful, as the movie, Dangerous Beauty, beautifully demonstrates. Now it is time to return to the ancient wisdom of worshipping life rather than death. Or as we said in the sixties, "Make love, not war."
Sacred is understood differently in indigenous cultures where the concept of sacred is one of relationship rather than edict. In native cultures, humans, animals, plants, and especially the Earth herself are sacred because of we are all part of the Whole. No one and no thing have to be proven worthy to be considered sacred. All of creation is inherently sacred because it is part of the interconnected web of ecology that sustains life. In this worldview, Earth is not only seen as sacred but as a living being. Sacred is a kind of awareness, not a function of ego, of the logical mind, but more of an intuitive or direct awareness of patterns running through everything around us. This is sometimes called synchronicity, or the Tao. Here is another meaningful coincidence! It just so happens that tantric lovemaking turns on the "Right" Brain — that part of the brain that perceives patterns.
So we have two different ways of looking at the meaning of Sacred Sex which are totally complementary. Just as the love of the Mother and the love of the Father are complementary, the Western and the indigenous understanding of sacred are two sides of the same coin.
Sacred Sexuality, or Erotic Spirituality, as I prefer to call it, is a part of virtually every spiritual tradition around the world. In the last couple of decades elements of Tantra have been blended or fused with elements from Taoism, Native American, African, Christian, Pagan, and Jewish paths as a basis for re-visioning sexuality.
In the pre-Christian view, sex is sacred simply because it’s part of life. In the Christian view sex must be shown to be deserving of reverence. No problem! Here’s why it’s worthy!
1.First, Sacred Sexuality, implies an awareness that sex is the inception of life, of all that is. Without the sexual act, none of us would exist — at least not as incarnate bodies. Sacred Sexuality acknowledges that our life force and our sexual energy originate from the same source. It’s an expression of awe and wonder that transcends any particular culture.
2.Sex is sacred because of its role in bonding. Mutually satisfying sexual exchanges naturally intensify bonding, but sex can take place without bonding if we’re careful to keep our hearts closed. Sex opens the heart only if we bring the energy up. The Tantric attitudes of slowing down, awakening all of the senses, tuning in to subtle energy, letting go of judgment and blame, expressing gratitude for the gift of life, and savoring the present moment are wonderfully supportive tools for intimate relating.
To bond with someone is to form an enduring connection -- to feel a strong sense of mutual caring, intimacy, and appreciation. Bonding satisfies our need to belong and can occur in the absence of sex whenever a powerful shared experience creates a feeling of kinship. Not only is bonding critical to survival for many species, it supports health and happiness. People live longer and have fewer problems when they have a family-social-community context. Sex helps bring people together and keep them together. What else could motivate us to overcome the difficulties we encounter in intimate relating? Love making is more fun and more readily available than natural disasters, war, and other life threatening situations.
Erotic energy works its magic far beyond the plant and animal level as well. Look at gravity! Gravity is the name we give to the force of mutual attraction that holds the cosmos together, but spiritual teachers throughout the ages have pointed out that magnetic pull is just another name for erotic love.
3.Sex is sacred because of its role in accessing peak experiences of love, oneness, and healing. Humans have an innate need for peak experiences of bliss, merging, and ecstasy. We have a deep longing for the (re) union of sex and spirit, for union with the Divine. When we access expanded states of consciousness through sex we validate our intuitive sense that sex can be worship and that worship can be erotic. Tantra and other paths of Erotic Spirituality teach us to embrace and honor the body as a temple of Spirit, rather than trying to deny our natural sexual impulses.
So when we bless, purify, or honor the body as part of a sexual encounter, when we bond more deeply as a result of lovemaking, or when sexual union catapults us into higher consciousness, we make sex sacred
